Madeline and Avery Wed part 2… Lafayette, LA wedding photographer The Gouguenheim
Madeline and Avery were wed at The Gouguenheim in New Iberia, LA on the most beautiful day. The venue itself is gorgeous… from the large wrap around deck on the 2nd story to the rooms available for the bride (and groom) to get ready in. I arrived early to capture the girls getting ready, and to shoot the detail shots. It is a time where I can capture the traditional “dress shot” and then push my creativity to capture the dress in a more artistic way. There was one room in the girls suite that called to me for the dress shot. It quickly became one of my favorite dress shots to date. Every ring, piece of jewelry, dress will tell me a different story, will ignite my imagination on a different tale. As they should. No 2 weddings or brides are alike, and neither should their images.
I knew from the first time I met Avery and Madeline at Woodlawn Chapel in Maurice, for their engagement session, that their wedding would be a blast. Their engagement session was filled with sweet moments, a lot of laughter, and some pretty nice dance moves! And so was their wedding 🙂 We spent an hour walking around the grounds, and it was like hanging out with old friends. I captured their engagement session in the early morning. The light mixed with fog and created some incredible stellar imagery.
The Gougenheim is really a unique venue with their large indoor venue space (which can hold up to 500 guests), the gorgeous wrap around 2nd floor balcony, and elegant suites. The venue is located directly across the street from where the bride and groom had their first date. That made the venue even more important to them. Immediately following the ceremony we went across the street to capture some just married portraits at Cara Bella’s Bar.
Madeline and Avery had a few surprise entertaining moments during the reception. One of her cousins performed a Michael Jackson number and later on another friend performed a light show. I love special wedding moments like this! (I myself had a magician and a caricature artist at my reception.)
