Brittany and Coyle Engagement Session, Lafayette LA Wedding Photographer

Brittany and Coyle will be getting married at Cypress Grove on my birthday!  So right off the bat, I knew this couple and I were meant to meet and their session would be nothing less than EPIC.  They are such a laid back and easy going couple. Up for all of my ideas, and they even got into Lake Martin on their own accord.  I myself am too chicken to get into water at the lake. Louisiana is known for their gators so don’t judge lol.

I always allow my couples to change outfits during their engagement sessions, so that they have a variety to choose from.  Brittany chose a gorgeous yellow dress and also a long flowy purple skirt.  I was in photographer heaven 🙂  Both colors are my personal faves. I knew instantly that both would photograph in the most stunning way.  Colors, textures, and styles all inspire my creativity and can lead how I will pose clients.  The yellow dress begged to be twirled and twirled. The delicate detail around her shoulders begged for it’s own closeup. When we moved onto the purple skirt, I knew it was time to move towards the water.  Maybe it was Coyle’s white shirt, and quiet sense… maybe it was the hint of purple with Brittany’s playful personality… I am not sure what it was, but when we were by the water something instantly called to my mind Ariel and Prince Eric from Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Totally my first love when it comes to Disney movies.  So when they offered to get into the water!!! I was ecstatic.

Lake Martin has the most ahhhhmazing light in the evening.  The water turns nearly golden as the sun dances on the waves.  I usually start my sessions near the wooden paths, shooting along the gravel roads, and gradually working my session towards the boat dock as the sun sets.  The sun guides our session, and I am always finding new spots to shoot around.

Often I am asked by my clients if they can include their fur babies.  And my answer is always 1000000000000% yes.  I love animals.  Now, if you bring your pet snake I may not want to be near it, but I can still capture it lol.  Brittany and Coyle chose to include their two dogs into their engagement session.  I was smitten!! Both were so well behaved, and the littlest one felt it was her debut!  Talk about a photogenic pup.
