Brittany’s Avery Island Jungle Gardens Bridal Session Lafayette, LA Wedding Photographer
I can not really express how excited and nervous I was to shoot Brittany’s bridals. And I had no doubt it would be epic after capturing her and Coyle’s engagement session at Lake Martin (EPIC shoot click here to see). I have gone to Jungle Gardens countless times to photograph my own children and clients. However, I had never shot a bridal session there! There is a fee to shoot at Avery Island, which does deter some people. I honestly feel the fee (click here to see fee) is worth every cent! Charging a fee helps keep the area beautiful, and it also helps keep out folks who may not respect the property.
The other reason I was super nervous was because we were in rainy season here in Lafayette, and on this particular day there were storm clouds rolling in from both sides. I don’t mind a little rain at sessions, and I keep a clear umbrella in my car for this reason, however Bridals are not ideal in the rain lol. The thunder was our background music during the shoot. The light was soft and beautiful, and in some areas so dramatic. We did have a little drizzle towards the end, but lucky for us it really didn’t start to rain until the session was over.
Brittany said that she envisioned herself as a magical, earth goddess… and I honestly was inspired by those words. During our shoot I turned to my left slightly and caught a sight out of the corner of my eye. The trees were skinny and so tall, and the light was peeking thru in such a fun way. It brought to my mind an image, and thankfully Brittany was up for the vision I had. I knew from her engagement session that she was very laid back, yet could throw caution to the wind. So barefoot she went, with her gown gathered just so, onto the earth that lay before us. She reminded me of a fairy! First she was Ariel from the Little Mermaid for her engagement session and now a fairy 🙂
Her sister came with us for the shoot, which was a huge help. It is always nice to have someone you are comfortable with during your bridals. I have found that my clients are more comfortable during the shoot, it’s nice to have an extra set of hands to carry bouquets and trains, and I love having that extra set of eyes to make sure that the hem of the dress is on point.
Floral crown and bouquet: Petals and Pots. Which Brittany so sweetly gave for me to take home to my girls. They danced around like they were fairy princess brides too.
