Meagan and Lane Lake Martin Engagement Session Lafayette LA Wedding Photographer

Lane and Meagan met me at Lake Martin for their engagement session. This local landmark screams Louisiana with the cypress trees emerging from the water, the moss draped from the branches, and those gators in the water 😉 We actually didn’t see any alligators this trip though. We were photo bombed by a group of boaters though lol.

Lake Martin is a wildlife preserve. The swamplands are home to a many different kinds of animals such as herons, egrets, ibis, bullfrogs, cottonmouths, alligators, and coypu rats. I have been lucky enough to only see a handful of distant gators, some spiders, and the birds. As much as I love nature (and I really do love it) I am not a fan of being up close and personal with natures creatures lol.

Engagement sessions are a great way to break the ice with your wedding photographer. It helps the bride and groom become more comfortable in front of the lens as well, and gives them an idea of what to expect from me on the wedding day. They are also a blast! 15 years ago if you would have asked me did I ever think I would enjoy capturing engagement sessions, you would have heard a big NO. But they really are so much fun, we laugh nearly the whole time. And then there are those incredibly sweet moments, those quiet portraits, that take my breathe away. And it makes me so happy when I leave a session and the groom to be thanks me for making it such a relaxed and fun experience.
